Each person has a story of triumph, an experience that could help others. Yet, many feel silenced and unable to tell their stories. Some lack the courage, while others are unsure of how to begin. Are you aware that you have a new story you can learn to share? Do you know how to find the inspiration to share it?
You may not realize it, but there's an untold story of triumph within you that somebody needs to hear. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you can explore this new page in your book of life and encourage someone to read your story in the process. However, you must be open to learning through exploration, observation, and taking the necessary time to fully "digest the food" you have been given.
After completing your regular personal devotion with Christ and reflecting on today’s Bible verse, you can follow a few additional steps:
Invite the Holy Spirit to bring to mind a childhood cartoon (to help you connect with your inner child and with your heavenly Father). Once a cartoon comes to mind, spend some time watching it, keeping in mind that this is part of your personal time with God the Father, guided by the Holy Spirit. As you watch, jot down your inner thoughts, feelings, memories, etc., without reflecting on them immediately. Simply record them in your journal.
Following the cartoon, as you continue to spend intimate time with your Creator in a new manner, consider what you noted in your journal.
Make use of a coloring book to keep practicing a childlike attitude when approaching God as your Father. Keep reflecting, even if coloring a children's page feels unusual.
Pray and request the Holy Spirit to provide you with another Bible verse for contemplation. How does this verse or a Bible story relate to your previous reflections?
Turn to the Holy Spirit for inspiration to "give voice" to your story. If it's something you haven't explored before or lack experience in, remember to approach the new tool with the curiosity of a child. Have fun exploring it!
What is the Holy Spirit encouraging or inspiring you to do?
The Holy Spirit has a new gift for you. It may take a while to explore and understand this gift fully, but continue with the process until you've completely explored it. It might take you a few days to figure it out.
Pray for God's wisdom and courage to share your unique story with the appropriate audience.
During this journey, distractions and temptations to pursue "the next thing" will arise. However, if you take the time and have the patience to see the process through to its conclusion, there is a nourishing spiritual experience to be gained. It may take several days to fully explore and embrace the new gift that is emerging in your heart that only you can uniquely share with someone who needs to hear your new story.
Be blessed! Bon Appetit!
