Unwrap the Gift of Joy in Challenging Times

In times of significant challenges, when the struggle appears unending, what is most needed is a touch of joy. Although the situation may remain unchanged, it is still possible to embrace joy despite the temporary setbacks. 

As you begin a new day, reflect on this verse: “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” - Philippians 4:4

Rather than focusing on the present challenges, consider the gift of joy that your Father in Heaven wishes to give you. Simply request this gift of joy, and then unwrap and embrace it yourself. 

Reflecting on Philippians 4:4, you can ask the Holy Spirit to show you a gift of joy. Gifts arrive in packages that need to be unwrapped and opened. You can request the Holy Spirit's assistance in unpacking the gift of joy intended especially for you, today. 

Notice the thoughts that arise from contemplation and prayer. What memories surface? Do you think of an activity like sitting on a swing and singing? Perhaps you recall solving puzzles or playing a simple board game. You might even remember the fun of swimming in a pool. Whatever comes to mind, it's an invitation to pursue what brings you joy. By engaging in the activity revealed to you during prayer, you can unlock the gift of joy and experience a day, or even a month, filled with happiness.
