Numbers 33

Around midnight, I woke up to pray and checked my phone. I noticed a text from one of my brothers, mentioning that Mum had called him, concerned about a family incident that occurred that night. I had just returned from visiting Mum and was worn out from a tiring drive to Croatia and back to Bosnia on the same day.

As I was quietly praying, knowing that there was a midnight emotional storm back home, an old worship song was in my heart. I knew the song was a divine sword for going through another family struggle. I fell asleep singing, thanking God, and praying.

I dreamt of the number 33, and upon waking, I recalled it. It brought to mind the Biblical book of "Numbers," prompting me to look up chapter 33. This chapter details the stages of Israel's journey through the wilderness.

Reading chapter 33 also brought to mind a Christmas gift I created for my family and friends. I designed an inspirational poster featuring the message “This too shall pass,” encouraging viewers to reflect on the past year's emotional highs and lows. It serves as a reminder that, regardless of the stage of wilderness we are in currently, it is merely a phase in our life journey.

It is an invitation to trust in God’s plan, His words, and promises for both individuals and families. While in a winepress of various struggles, let us remember that the pressing of grapes produces wine. In other words, after the current emotional storm, in a place of peace, there is a new joy waiting to be found.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” - John 14:27

Let me pray for you:

Father, I ask that each person facing challenges in life right now views their situation from a heavenly perspective. Grant them the grace to recall the words and promises you have provided, and may they find comfort and peace in them. In Jesus' name, I pray.
