“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— those he redeemed from the hand of the foe…” - Psalm 107:1-2
Many are counting scars and licking wounds from the aftermath of the past season. If you have been asking Jesus how to move on, looking back at all the things you lost (relationships, hopes, and dreams), today’s message is specifically for you.
Instead of dwelling on the negative aspects of the past season, Jesus is encouraging you to reflect on all the blessings and wonderful things He has bestowed upon you during that time. Yes, that's correct, it's time to shift your focus. It's time to begin counting your blessings as you consider any setbacks from the past.
Remembering past battles and learning from them is a wise practice to avoid repeating mistakes in the future. While reflecting on the challenges, also recall how God guided you through them. Whether journaling, praying, or talking to someone, maintain your focus on the positive aspects you have experienced.
Reflecting on Psalm 107, which my mother recently shared with me, I contemplated why the writer felt inspired to compose a psalm of praise recalling a difficult time in the history of his nation. There is value in remembering, but it is important to maintain the right perspective. Rather than dwelling on the setbacks, like the psalmist, express gratitude to God for the numerous victories achieved in the face of challenges. Take stock of your blessings and appreciate God for His unwavering faithfulness.
It is time to move on to a new chapter in your life. A new chapter is already written, and the page is turning! All you need to do is to embrace the changes with gratitude in your heart. “For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11
