As you admire a portrait by one of the great art masters, someone comes up to you and inquires if you are an artist. How do you reply? I suppose you might say something like, “No, of course not,” considering the question to be ridiculous… Could it be that you dismissed the possibility of being an artist too quickly? Maybe you don't know you are an artist. Perhaps you just need to refine your artistic skills and learn a thing or two.

When Jesus inquired of his disciples about his identity, Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Messiah.” Jesus then responded to Peter that it was the Father in heaven who revealed Jesus' true identity to him.

To understand our identity or who Jesus is, we must first recognize God as our good Father and learn about His nature. Just as children inherit traits from their earthly fathers, we also embody characteristics of our heavenly Father spiritually.

Today, as you contemplate the verses from Matthew 16:13-20 and Mark 8:27-29, pray to your Father in heaven to reveal Himself to you as your Father. Additionally, ask Him to unveil your own identity. As He demonstrates Himself as your loving Father and you as His beloved child, He will reveal a new aspect of His nature. This is an invitation to embark on a journey of discovering who God meant for you to be. Remember, you were created in His image.

As you embark on a new exploration of your identity in Christ, be mindful of what you observe, taste, smell, or childhood memories that you recall. Is there something that frequently recurs that you tend to overlook? Reflect on those things.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. - Genesis 1:27
