Are you ready for new experiences in your life?

To welcome new experiences, we must first make room for them. To heal, we must forgive; to start a new close relationship, sometimes we must conclude an old one; to embrace change in life, we need a plan to leave behind past situations. Simply put, we need to declutter.

Our homes frequently disclose more than we realize. They often mirror our hearts. Our living spaces can indicate who we are and what we value, as well as what is occurring in our minds and emotions. During today’s devotional time, I encourage you to examine your home environment and consider whether you have accumulated clutter. Clutter in a home can mirror the disorder and chaos that may exist in one's heart.

Measure the things that you own!

When I ask you yo measure your belongings, I mean it in Hebraic terms. Hebrew words for measure are often used to render words representing particular measures (values). Clutter can be "measured" in different ways, such as its financial worth, emotional significance, generational inheritance, or religious nature. Some of these items may hold hidden burdens you're unaware of and could conceal "snakes" like emotional pain or negative memories. Journaling and note-taking can be useful tools for decluttering both your personal space and emotional baggage.

Take a few minutes to think about the items in your home and what they represent to you. Try to articulate and define why you keep certain things, how they make you feel, and what they mean to you. Asking the right questions is a form of introspection and discovery, which is a prerequisite for preparing for a change ahead. By examining and defining, you might realize that many things take up space and create external clutter, which can reflect emotional clutter in your heart.

Consider examining the photo frames, souvenirs, and emotionally significant gifts displayed on your shelves, in your drawers, and on your walls. Often, gifts we receive are blessings that fulfill a purpose at the time they are given. However, it might now be the ideal moment to make room for something new. If you decide to let go of something old and pass it on to someone else, you can thoughtfully consider how to do so respectfully. What was once a blessing to you might become a hidden gem for someone else too.

External processes should assist you in emotionally decluttering and letting go of the past. Throughout this journey, you'll undergo inner healing, feel unburdened, and create room for new experiences, relationships, and personal growth.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." - Isaiah 43:18-19
