In some countries, it is Thanksgiving week. While there is plenty to be thankful for, some people may find it difficult to express gratitude while dealing with serious illnesses. Today, a dear friend from Poland, who is facing the challenges of a difficult illness, is sharing insights from the Scriptures on how to pray and what actions to take during prolonged health struggles. Magdalena shares the following:

From time to time, I hear the term "fighting" in the media. It's used in the context of encouragement, of encouraging us to do something, of not giving up, and of achieving our goals. Fighting for it, not literally, but figuratively. Hearing this term brings back questions: is this a phrase I want to remember or not?

In Luke 18, we encounter the account of a blind man's healing. Verse 39 particularly stood out to me: Luke [ESV] "And those leading the way scolded him, instructing him to be quiet. Yet he shouted even louder, 'Son of David, have mercy on me!'"

The blind man's attitude encourages us to consider the things we are fighting for, and perhaps there is something or someone discouraging us, even though the goal is so close. The moment Jesus passes by the blind man, he is very close to him. Will there be such an opportunity again? Is this the moment to not give up because the solution is so close? And instead of hearing "be quiet!", it would be good to hear "keep fighting"? To receive words of encouragement and support.

Even without encouragement, the blind man remained hopeful and persisted with faith to attain what was of great importance to him: gaining Jesus' attention and being healed. Jesus listened to the blind man, helped him, and healed him.

Is there someone who could use support today to keep pursuing their goals? "Keep Fighting!"
