Being "under the umbrella" signifies being a part of a larger organization or participating in its activities. Today's blog post encourages readers to grasp the significance of being under authority and how this understanding can foster unshakable faith that invites God's intervention in prayers.
In the Gospels, there is an account of a Roman centurion who approached Jesus with a request, recognizing a vital principle that touches the heart of God. He asked Jesus to heal his servant, and Jesus was willing to do so. Jesus intended to visit the centurion's home to perform the healing. However, the centurion understood the significance of being under someone’s protection and authority. He had faith that Jesus had such authority that merely His word could bring healing, making it unnecessary for Him to visit the centurion’s home.
The centurion said to Jesus: “For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” - Matthew 8:9-10
The centurion, being a man under Caesar's authority with command over 100 soldiers, comprehended the advantages of being under Jesus' authority. He recognized that only the words of an authoritative figure prompt action and offer a protective shelter. This insight fostered unwavering faith in the soldier, which touched God's heart and led to the fulfillment of his prayer request. Consequently, those who observed the event gained a valuable lesson about yielding to authority and understanding what affects God's heart.
Today, I would like to invite you to prayerfully consider the umbrella that is under Jesus’ authority, which the Holy Spirit is leading you to submit yourself under. Only someone who is subject to authority can become an authority figure. It is an umbrella that has the authority to teach and bring corrections, but it is also an umbrella of comfort and protection. You too can be a woman/man who is under authority, whose prayers move the heart of God.
Understanding how to be a son or daughter under a specific authority will instill in you an unwavering faith that compels God to answer your prayers. Reflecting on the story of the Roman soldier, you can seek the Holy Spirit's guidance to discover the authority He wants you to submit to and learn to trust. Additionally, you can request the grace to learn how to be a son or daughter under the authority where He has directed you to receive support and guidance.
