How Can You Prepare for What You Cannot Predict?

With new challenges ahead in 2026, how can you prepare for events that may unexpectedly disrupt your daily life? Is it even possible to prepare for what you cannot predict?
Occasionally, during prayer, I sense that certain personal challenges may be approaching. These impressions encourage me to prepare through prayer and seek God’s grace so that my life and ministry remain aligned with the Father’s plans and purposes.
Recently, I found myself wondering how to prepare for a new challenge awaiting me in 2026. Through prayer, I received some inspiration about how to approach it. Yet I continued to wonder how I would manage all the details.
When I encounter what appears to be an impenetrable barrier, I often feel prompted to withdraw into a period of silence. I bring my questions before God and wait for His response.
When the Answer Began as a Poem
As I waited for an answer to my latest prayer, I felt inspired to begin writing a poem. Its opening lines seemed to speak directly to my questions:
I wish you could learn to trust me.
All you need to do is to ask me: “How?”
After writing these lines, I began reading Bible passages in which people sought God’s guidance. I was also reminded of a worship song describing Jesus as a way maker.
That message gave me the comfort and confidence I needed. Although I did not know every detail of how I would handle the challenges ahead—whether expected or unexpected—I was reminded that God could prepare a way for me to walk through them.
I already knew many Bible verses about the Father’s guidance, provision, and care. In that moment, however, I needed to receive His truth personally and apply it to one specific challenge.
The situation still appeared impossible, but the experience strengthened my trust in God. I did not need to see the entire path. I only needed enough light for my next step.
Listening for God in Creative Ways
I sense that some Creative Helping Hands readers and subscribers may be entering a new season of creative—perhaps even poetic—expression.
God can use Scripture, prayer, music, poetry, painting, conversation, and quiet reflection to draw our attention back to His truth. These expressions should be prayerfully tested against Scripture and God’s character, but they can help us slow down, listen, and recognize what He may be revealing.
Perhaps you cannot prepare for every unexpected circumstance. But you can prepare your heart by learning to trust God, seek His wisdom, and follow the light He provides one step at a time.
