Has Life Become So Small That You've Stopped Looking for God's Light?

Jane and her husband are dear friends who are currently walking through a difficult season as they face the challenges of serious illness. Yet, in the midst of uncertainty, hospital visits, and the demands of everyday life, Jane has not lost hope. She has found an anchor in her faith, trusting in God's presence even when the journey is difficult.

I am grateful that Jane has allowed me to share her thoughts with you today. Her reflection is not about pretending that life is easy. It is about recognising that even when our circumstances seem to close in around us, God's light has not disappeared. Here is what she shared:

“Currently, my world seems very small. My husband is extremely sick, and my life revolves around hospital visits, running our home, and working a few hours a week. The balance is tricky!

It is easy to get bogged down in routines, isn’t it? Suddenly, without meaning to, we can turn inward and lose sight of the bigger picture. We may begin to think that nothing will change, and we start (without meaning to) limiting our Father.

As I looked out into our garden this morning, I saw the amazing light and was strongly led to think about the burning fire of the Holy Spirit, which burns in each one of us.

Despite our circumstances, we are to be “Children of Light” (1 Thessalonians 5:5).

Also, we must not “stifle the Holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 5:19 warns us not to quench the Spirit. We must actively look for the flame and movement in our lives.

As you look at the photo of this powerful image, ask yourself the following questions:

How is the Holy Spirit burning in your heart?

Are other people seeing your flames?

We are called to shine. Despite our circumstances, let us commit each day to the Lord so that His Holy Spirit's fire can burn and give out His light.”

Let's Continue the Conversation
