Jane, a close friend from England, truly understands the art of being a gracious host. She and her husband create an inviting and soothing atmosphere for their guests. Their approach to hosting makes sure the guests feel at ease in their home. As many prepare for visits from family and friends this Christmas, Jane shares her insights on "preparing a room" for the most cherished guest of all. Today, Jane is sharing the following with us:

To prepare means to 'make ready'. Recently, my husband and I have been getting ready for a new addition to our home. Humphrey is our new guide dog puppy, and he is in training to assist people who are partially sighted or blind. With plenty of training, we hope Humphrey will successfully fulfill his intended role and become a well-trained assistance dog, guiding others. What a wonderful thing , SHOWING THE WAY to OTHERS. My hope today, as we prepare our guest rooms for guests, is to show the way to prepare a room for Jesus in this Christmas season.

Some 30-plus years ago, I made the nativity scene shown with my daughter, who was then nearly 3! When I am setting this up, it always has a special place in my heart, reminding me that the shepherds and wise men were guided to see the Savior of the World.
As we celebrate this wonderful gift, let’s prepare room in our hearts for Jesus. We can prepare to open up rooms in other people by sharing the hope and good news of this joyous season. We can offer people a kind word, a meal, or a small gift when not expected—we can share the joy in ways that bring the kindness of Jesus into their lives.
We can ask Jesus to inspire us to bring kindness and joy into someone's life this season. We can take a moment to pause and reflect, and when inspiration strikes, we can share it! By doing so, we will make space for Jesus in our homes.
